Doris Reece Obituary

Doris Reece, of Social Circle, Georgia, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the age of 84. Mrs. Reece put God first in her life. Second only to her love of the Lord, was her love of family. She was tenderhearted, caring, and made friends everywhere she went – always giving out hugs. Mrs. Reece’s social demeanor made her work at Waffle House, for more than 29 years, the perfect setting for meeting and making friends. In her younger years, her hobbies and passions included working puzzles, crocheting, and listening to and collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia. Additionally, Mrs. Reece enjoyed riding motorcycles and raising money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, as well as writing poetry - even turning some works into song. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.K. Reece, Sr.; parents, Spencer E. and Bertha (Ward) Shepherd; sister, Melbie Fedler; brother, Charles Shepherd; great-grandson, Zion Cameron; and step-mother, Janie Shepherd.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Doug Peters, Freida and Danny Cameron; sons, Rex Reece, Denny  Reece; grandchildren, Peter and Amy Cameron, Robert and Linh Haltom, Keith and Miriam Cameron, Melinda and Michael Parker, Brittney McCammon, Jamie Reece, Jeremy and Esma  Reece, T.J. and Meghan  Peters, Sara and Josh Cobble, Lauren and Ross Crane; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Danny Siongco, Phyllis and Gene Johnson, Jewel and Jimmy Beasley; as well as brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Lou Shepherd.

A Visitation for Mrs. Reece will be held Sunday, September 15, 2019, 2:00 – 5:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Harry Clark officiating.  Interment will follow in Laurinburg Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends prior her service, beginning at 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
