Darrell Pledger Bridger

Darrell Pledger Bridger, age 86 of Laurinburg passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Laurinburg, officiated by Rev.Wayne Wike. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

Darrell was born September 23, 1932 in Scotland County, a son of the late Solomon Bridger and Mary “Mammie” Caulk Bridger. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force and went on to retire from his painting business. He was a member of First Baptist Church, enjoyed singing and listening to big band music. Darrell loved being a part of the community, visiting and helping others brought him joy. His greatest love was being with family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Bridger and sisters,
Evelyn Caudill, Marian Carter and Vera Hilburn.

Darrell leaves behind his son, James Bridger of Fountain Inn, SC; daughters, Melanie Louise Blackwell of Greenville, SC, Felicia Strickland of Laurinburg, Alison Corker of Fayetteville; sister, Ophelia Peck of Cincinnati, OH; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; mother of his children, Sadie Stricklin and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
