D.G. "Pete" Strickland

.Mr. D.G. “Pete” Strickland, age 84 of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the East Laurinburg Church of God officiated by Rev. Harry Clark.  Entombment will follow in Laurinburg, Memorial Park.

Pete was born January 5, 1934 in Marlboro County, South Carolina, to the late Frank Strickland and Dorothy Strickland.  He proudly served his country as a Veteran with the United States Army.  He retired after many years of service as a supervisor with Scotland Manufacturing.  Pete was a faithful member of the East Laurinburg Church of God who enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the flea market.  He was an avid sports fan, especially for Scotland High School Football and NASCAR racing; Dale Earnhardt being his all time favorite driver.  Pete loved sharing time with his family and will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather.

Along with his parents, a daughter, Terry Strickland preceded him in death.

Pete leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanette Stone Strickland of the home; sons, Jerry Ray Strickland, Donald Gene Strickland and daughters, Vicky McGill (David), Elaine S. Liles (Danny) all of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the East Laurinburg Church of God.
