Cearlean Locklear Strong

Cearlean Locklear Strong, age 80 of Hamlet passed away Friday, October 4, 2019.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sycamore Hill Holiness Church Cemetery.

Cearlean was born March 20, 1939 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Jesse James Locklear and IsaNora L. Locklear. She was the wife of the late Woodrow Strong.  She worked many years in the textile industry and faithfully attended Abundant Life Church. Cearlean devoted her life to loving and caring for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will deeply be missed

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Millicent Clark; granddaughter, Crystal Jones and brothers, Curtis Strong and Teldon Strong.

Cearlean leaves behind her sons, Jessie James Locklear, Jr. (Lindsay) of Hamlet, Woodrow Strong, Jr. (Anita) of Shannon, Robert Mitchell Strong (Amy) of Hilton Head, SC; daughters, Jamie Stubbs Quick (Jonathan) of Hamlet, Diane Richardson (Harold) of Maxton; brothers, Tommy Strong of Greensboro, James Earl Locklear, Johnny Boy Locklear, both of Maxton; special uncle, Evert Frank Locklear (Helen) of Maxton; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

A time of visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
