Catherine “Kat” Priest Butler Evans, age 84 of Monroe, formerly of Laurinburg passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019.
Catherine was born May 17, 1935 in Scotland County, loving daughter of the late John Peter Priest and Orelia Ranson Priest. She retired after many years of service with J.P. Stevens Incorporated. She enjoyed attending church at the East Laurinburg Baptist Church and Snead’s Grove United Methodist Church. For many years, she devoted her time volunteering with Hospice of Scotland County. She loved traveling and was an avid NASCAR fan of Richard Petty. Kat’s greatest joy was sharing time with family and friends.
.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands, Earl Butler, Skeet Evans and Carroll Henderson; her son, Andrew “Drew” Earl Butler; brothers, Elvin Priest, Clayton Priest, and William Priest.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Jenny Pregge (Lou) of Charlotte and Dawn Pressley (Tony) of Monroe; brothers, James Priest (Nellie) of Florida, Henry Priest (Peggy) of Maxton, John Priest of Goose Creek, Melvin Priest (Anne) of Laurinburg; her grandchildren, Lauren Pregge, Evan Pressley, Chris Pressley (Jessica) and great grandchildren, Rylie Torres, Chase Pressley, Easton Pressley and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, from 1:00 until 2:00 at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are requested to be given in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
