Betty Jean Singletary Butler, age 79 of Laurel Hill passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019.
Betty was born July 27, 1940 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Wilson Singletary and Beatrice Love Lockey. She worked in textiles for J.P. Stevens and later retiring from Champion Products. She was a member of New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, loved baking and cooking. Her greatest joy was sharing time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Buddy Singletary and Qita Kay Lockey.
Betty leaves behind her husband, Carl Butler of the home; son, Ronald David Butler (Sue) of Laurinburg, Michael Shawn Register of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughters, Connie B. Locklear (Charlie) of Maxton, Sandra Ellen Royal (Russell) of Houston, TX, Shelia B. Boone (Glen) of Raleigh, Judy Lynn Sitzler (Jake) of Jacksonville, Carol Jean Locklear of Lumberton; brothers, Jay Singletary (Linda) of Laurinburg, Larry Singletary of Laurel Hill, Jerry Lockey; sisters, Anita Strickland (Mike) all of Laurinburg, Maxine Quick (Harrison) of Greenville; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Pastor Woody Byrd. Burial will follow in Laurinburg Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, beginning 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
