Annie "Tippy" Weatherford

Annie V. "Tippy" Weatherford, age 71 of Laurinburg, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019.

Annie was born on March 9, 1947 in Laurinburg/ Maxton Air Base, Scotland County North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Clara Fields Walker and her birth father, Jay Weatherford. She graduated from Sandhills Community College in 1989 with a teaching degree then transferring to Pembroke College where she graduated in 1994 with her Bachelor’s degree in teaching. She retired from Sandhills Community College in 2013 where she was an instructor for the GED and the Adult High school Program.

Mama loved reading the Bible, the classics and all SYFY movies (1940, 1950 era). She loved planting her flowers every spring and sitting on her porch listening to the rain. Mama also loved the oldies music and danced often when it was played. She was also an avid watcher and listener of the Fayetteville Community Church service every Sunday. Her greatest joy was her visits with her children and grandchildren.  Annie was beloved by her family and many friends. Her family is deeply saddened by her loss.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Steve Fields and Andy Weatherford.

She is survived by her beloved replacement father, Gene Walker (Dorothy); two wonderful daughters, Amanda Nance of California and Kelly Coleman of Rockingham; three step children, John “Mac” Nance, Jr. (Laura), Steven “Clay” Nance (Lynn) and Frances Nance; six wonderful grandchildren, Zachary Bunce, Alexandria Bunce, Jason Rodgers, Evan Coleman, Aaron Andrew, Sofia Coleman and a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.   Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Annie requested for memorial donations to be given in her memory to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
