Jack Strickland, age 83 of Laurinburg passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
He was born in Robeson County, NC on November 11, 1940, son of the late George and Mary Locklear Strickland. Jack was a dedicated employee of Mohawk Industries, Inc., for many years until retirement. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering on automobiles, traveling or just riding around. Jack’s greatest joy came from time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, adored father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Jack “Pop” Strickland; daughters, Glenda Ann Strickland and Ester Michelle Barnes; brother, Geroge Strickland; sisters, Jane Butler, Patricia Locklear, Myrtle Oxendine, Lou Nelson; and grandchildren, Todd Strickland, Justin Strickland, and Brandie Strickland.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Minnie Lou Barnes Strickland of the home; son, Shelton Strickland (Annie Ruth) of Laurinburg; daughters, Margie Locklear (Fred), Sarah Arlene Sweat both of Maxton; stepson, James Anderson of Laurinburg; brothers, Alford Strickland, Alex Strickland also of Maxton; sisters, Shirley Strickland of Maxton; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Maxton, NC.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on at the funeral home.
