Mrs. Rubbie McCormick Gibson of Gibson of Gibson passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the age of 80.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Gibson United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. William K. Quick. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Gibson was born April 19, 1930 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Ruben C. McCormick and Catherine Walter McCormick. She was the devoted wife of the late Dr. Thomas G. Gibson, Jr. Mrs. Gibson was a loving homemaker that devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a longtime faithful member of the Gibson United Methodist Church and also enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McCormick was also preceded in death by sisters, Florence Webster and Margaret Adams.

She is survived by her son, T.G. Gibson, III of Gibson; her daughters, Tam Weatherly and husband Billy of Bennettsville, SC, Kaki Perez and husband Mike of Rockingham, Laurin Jackson and husband Mike of Pittsboro; a brother, R.C. McCormick of Gibson and sister, Mary Hunsucker of Gibson; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
