Paul Joseph Duffy July 24, 2010

Paul J. Duffy 74 of Wagram died Saturday July 24, 2010 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A Christian Mass memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday July 29, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Laurinburg, Entombment will be at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mr. Duffy was born in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Brian and Josephine Duffy. He was the devoted husband of the late Sharon Porter Duffy. Mr. Duffy graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and worked on the Mercury Space Program. He lived in Raleigh for most of his career retiring from the IBM Corporation as Senior Planner. After retiring, they moved to Woodlake Country Club in Vass, NC where they enjoyed golfing and being able to attend all the activities of the children and grandchildren. He was a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Southern Pines.

Mr. Duffy was also preceded in death by a brother Eugene Duffy.

He is survived by two sons Greggory “Gregg” Duffy and wife Mary of Youngsville NC, Kevin P. Duffy of Raleigh NC; two daughters, Lisa D. Blalock and husband David of Wagram, Dyanne M. Barnes and husband Matt of Bel Air MD., brothers, Tom Duffy and Mike Duffy both of Indianapolis, IN, Jim Duffy of Des Moines IA, and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the service at St. Mary Catholic Church.
